Different infrared heaters
An infrared cabin can be equipped with different types of infrared heaters. The type of infrared heater used determines how long you can stay in the infrared cabin. More information about the different infrared heaters.
Short wave (IR-A)
Short wave emitters are the most powerful and penetrate deep into the skin. This radiation warms up our muscles and joints.
Medium wave (IR-B)
Medium wave emitters penetrate the upper layers of the skin and cause you to perspire and detoxify.
Long wave (IR-C)
A long wave emitter (IR-C) heats the air in the infrared sauna rather than the body. The air then heats the body.
Full spectrum infrared radiator (full spectrum)
These infrared radiators contain all waves, with the short waves producing the most energy. Due to the deep effect of the radiation on the muscles, it is recommended not to exceed 15 minutes per session. This type of infrared radiation has a strong therapeutic effect on muscles and joints.
Wood types
An infrared sauna can be constructed from various types of wood, such as Canadian red cedar and Thermowood. See below for the advantages of these wood types.
Canadian Red Cedar
Canadian Red Cedar is definitely the best in terms of quality. This type of wood has a number of advantages, including the fact that it naturally kills mould and bacteria. This prevents bacteria from settling in the infrared sauna.
White Cedar, Hemlock
A good alternative to Canadian Red Cedar is White Cedar, also known as Hemlock wood. This type of wood does not have the mould and bacteria-killing properties of Canadian Red Cedar, but it is otherwise an excellent type of wood for infrared cabins and is considerably cheaper.

The best infrared sauna
What is the best infrared sauna? This is difficult to say and varies from person to person based on their wishes and needs. There are also huge price differences between the various infrared saunas; at DIY stores and online shops, they often cost between £600 and £1,000. In addition, there are also brands such as Armstark, Sunlighten and Health mate, which start at £2,500 and above. When purchasing, it is important to bear in mind that an infrared cabin is a product that you will use for a long time. What is the lifespan of the emitters?

What is the difference between a traditional and an infrared sauna?
A traditional Finnish sauna heats the air in the cabin to high temperatures (usually between 80°C and 100°C), which leads to indirect heating of the body.
