Types of wood

It is also lightweight and has excellent insulating properties. Western Red Cedar wood generally has no knots, unlike Knotty Cedar. It is easy to maintain and has a wonderful aromatic scent.
Thermowood
Barrel saunas made from thermowood have undergone thermal treatment, which increases their durability to class 1 or 2. During this process, the wood is heated to approximately 235°C, removing sugars, carbohydrates and resins from the wood and eliminating the food source for insects and fungi, which increases the longevity and effectiveness of the barrel sauna.
